MS 585 industrial controller is the newest product designed by Mikroel. It is intended for control of medium-power compressors (up to 110 kW) with star-delta engine transition startup. 

MS 585 is electrically and mechanically fully compatible  with MS 385-V24. Some of its functions were modified and improved and  many additional solutions and improvements were introduced  to make MS 585 functional, robust and comfortable in use. 

MS-585 uses components of the latest technology and effective software routines. MS 585 is based on 32-bit NXP microcontroller that is recognized for  high resistance  to industrial power disturbances and features  many functional possibilities. Built-in 12-bits Analog-to-Digital converters provide high-accuracy measurements. A colour LCD-TFT display with graphical interface, keyboard and LED diodes significantly improved  working with the device. 

Deployed algorithms of optimal compressing process control result in reduced power consumption and safe and balanced engine utilization. Two communication interfaces - industrial CAN and RS485 - allow networking cooperation within a set of compressors using MS-585 controllers, with simultaneous data acquisition and visualization on PC computer in real time.  

MS 585 ensures analog measurements with high 12-bit precision of:

• pressure (4-20mA standard)
• oil and air temperature (PT-100 sensor)
• engine temperature (KTY84-130 sensor)
• one or three engine currents
• built-in phase asymmetry and phase inversion detection between electric lines supplying power to an engine (without need to use external module)
• phase asymmetry and phase inversion detection using external module (e.g. ASKF3B with opto-isolation or any module using two-state logic as an alternative option)

MS 585 ensures control of external two-state logic sensors in 24VDC standard. Optional external phase asymmetry and phase inversion measurements between three power lines provide very efficient and  fast engine protection against breakdown. 

MS 585 - protection against:

• engine overheating
• exceeding maximum power-up cycles within an hour
• power shortages - full recovery procedure
• 24V circuit shorts (uses electric fuse)
• incorrect phase connection or lack of phase
• voltage level asymmetry (level-detected with defined level)
• electromagnetic disturbances within allowable level

MS 585 - menu and functions:

• Configurable parameters of controller - divided into service- and user-accessible
• Read backs of settings and actual sensor values on the display
• Work mode selection (automatic, continuous, remote)
• 7 LEDs showing current state of compressor (visible from distance)
• Flexible work pressure range setting and critical pressure setting
• Error and events indication, history of 200 last errors and events
• Service counters (indication of wear of replaceable materials), work counter (hourly)
• Heater and dryer control (for sub-zero temperature conditions) with timer setting
• Temperature sensor controlled fan (for high-temperature conditions)
• Full recovery restart function after power down and short-time power disturbances

• Supervised mode - controller controlled by master MS 4CMPXv2 controller or other master controller (can be also MS-585 in master-mode)
• Scheduled work (up to 20 settings: periodic cycles or of single-executions)
• Economic time scheduling on default gear ATLSE. 
• Manual Y-valve control and safety-valve test routine (service-accessible)
• LCD Screen-saver (with visible from distance pressure - displayed with big-font)
